We have started in earnest for the preparations for the year 2001's
ice dives. We need to make some room reservations, in McCall, Idaho for
January, February and/or March 2001.
The above motel reservations for the January/February/March ice dive dates need to be made,
you need to contact me to reserve your room. All of the above rooms are non-smoking.
Best Western (208) 634-6300,
Super 8 (208) 634-4637. There is a 24 hrs notice in advance to cancel these reservation.
My latest thoughts are to do a presentation in Boise on Friday evening at about 7 pm.
We still will need to get organized
earlier than Friday night in order to see what everybody is going
to bring as their share of shovels, tents, ropes, ice harnesses, cross cut saw,
gas for the snow blower, the snow blower, blower oil, carabiners,
dry clothing bags, several extra pairs of gloves, waterproof
boots, dry socks, etc.
We will need to think of special safety measures overnight so no one
falls in the hole, i.e. flagging, poles, etc.
I have put an advertisement in North West Dive News media machine working.
I know of at least four (perhaps more) divers willing to come over
for a date in 2001.
About the only gear we don't have for ice diving is the tent, we
can try to get the same tent we used last year from one of the ice
divers or we can fabricate one from blue tarps and conduit. In
addition we have a 200,000 btu heater as a good back up. The
heater will come along even if not needed, because as a temporary
heat source goes, it doesn't get much better than this small furnace!
I'm in favor of keeping warm, no matter what, so heater sounds great.
We need to get interest statements and after that deposits to verify
how much really serious interest we have in January/February/March?
